FAQs

Do I need a referral from a GP for physiotherapy treatment?

No, you can come directly to the clinic without a referral from your GP. Our physiotherapists will assess your injury and determine what treatment is appropriate. The clinic treats ACC claims and private clients, as well as most insurance claims. If your physiotherapist feels you need to see your GP – they will let you know on your first visit.

What is ACC?

If you have an accident or injury, Accident Compensation Corporation (ACC) will pay for some of your treatment costs at Roland Jeffery Physiotherapy. All clients will be required to pay a co-payment. An accident must be a sudden event or incident and you must remember when and where the accident happened. ACC will cover most work injuries, accidents at home and also sporting injuries. Our reception team or physiotherapist will fill out ACC forms when you come for your first visit. We can also refer you for an x-ray or ultrasound examination if necessary.

Is there an ACC surcharge (additional payment) for physiotherapy treatments?

Yes. All clients will be required to pay a co-payment per visit (please see schedule of fees located in Services for more information). There are nominal charges for materials such as strapping tape, rehabilitation equipment (eg. exercise bands and pulleys) and loan items (eg. crutches).

Why a co-payment?

Roland Jeffery Physiotherapy employs experienced physiotherapists who have spent many years working within the profession developing exceptional skills and expertise. Additionally, all our senior staff have post graduate diplomas. All the staff therapists are all working towards this post graduate qualification.

Our clinic’s staff are physiotherapists who work with sports such as football and badminton, and have worked with professional football players in the UK and NZ, as well as working with many high level elite athletes.

Roland Jeffery Physiotherapy provides a high standard of service and an exceptional facility to help our clients become pain free, return to activity and a better lifestyle. RJ Physio receives funding from ACC for treating our clients but this is insufficient to deliver this quality service, quality systems, and facilities.

The copayment our client’s pay helps keep our clinical standards high and helps provide the best systems and facilities. We believe that this is in our client’s best interests.

Roland Jeffery Physiotherapy aims to deliver a great service and outcome for all our clients.

What if I don't have ACC?

Our clinic provides treatment for all types of claims including private claims where the client pays for their own visit. You may have private medical insurance or private insurance (through a work related injury). Our physiotherapists are happy to treat your injury regardless of whether you are paying for the treatment yourself, your insurance company is covering your treatment or you are covered through work insurance.

What injuries does the clinic treat?

We specialise in sports injuries and back and neck pain but can assess and treat any pain or injury including:
