All Whites v China 2023The All Whites opened 2023 with a 0-0 draw with China PR at Auckland’s Mt Smart Stadium on Thursday evening. Tommy Smith captained the side on his 50th appearance. They were reduced to 10 players just after the hour mark when Tommy Smith clumsily felled the last defender. The match finished goalless.

In the second match in Wellington they finished with a 2-1 win. An early own goal from the Chinese put them ahead 1-0 at the break. In the 81st minute Bell played a pinpoint ball over the top to the Garbett who had made a late run into the box. He trapped the ball on his chest before turning and finishing past the keeper extending the lead to 2-0. Interim head coach Darren Bazeley was pleased with the showing from his team.
