All Whites v Australia Game 2

Mon Sept. 26th 2022

The All Whites bid farewell to one of the greats of New Zealand football in a 2-0 defeat to Australia. In front of a record crowd Winston Reid walked out to a rousing Eden Park reception, as 34,985 fans watched his final All Whites appearance.

The team started well, but had to make an early unwanted change as Chris Wood was forced off with injury in the 32nd minute. The Socceroos were too strong in the end with goals from Mitch Duke and Jason Cummings (penalty).

While the final result wasn’t what the team hoped for in their first home game in nearly five years, the sense of occasion at Eden Park and the reception the team received left the football community in no doubt. It was great to see the All Whites at home again!
